Chiuro

Chiuro is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2529 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Sondrio in the Lombardy region. The community is located about 9 kilometers east of Sondrio. It is immediately adjacent to the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The Adda forms the southern boundary of the municipality.

History

In the district Castionetto 1959 fragments of a stele dating from the Neolithic period have been found ( 2200-1800 BC ) in the year. Display a wheel and a human figure.

Traffic

Passing through the municipality, the Strada Statale 38 Stelvio by Piantedo to Bolzano. The station of the municipality lies on the route of the ferrovia Alta Valtellina ( path of the Alta Valtellina ) from Sondrio to Tirano.
