Chiusa Sclafani

Chiusa Sclafani is a city in the province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, with 2935 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Chiusa Sclafani is located 80 km south of Palermo. The inhabitants work mainly in agriculture and wood processing industry. About 9 km to the south is the village of San Carlo. The inhabitants are engaged in agriculture, especially there are plantations of tangerines and oranges. San Carlo is incorporated to Chiusa Sclafani.

The neighboring municipalities are Bisacquino, Burgio (AG), Caltabellotta (AG), Corleone, Giuliana and Palazzo Adriano.

History

The community was founded in 1320 by Count Matteo Sclafani. Over time, the owner of the community often changed.
