Chizarira-Nationalpark

Chizarira National Park is located in the north-west of Zimbabwe in the province of Matabeleland North, where it borders on the Hwange National Park, the Victoria Falls, the Zambezi and the uppermost part of the Kariba Dam.

The park is large, with the subsequent safari parks Chete and Chirisa about 192,000 ha, since 1938 a protected area with hunting ban, since 1963, a wildlife sanctuary and a national park since 1975. Its territory is a mixture of dense forest, flood plains and the Tundazibergen. It is the least developed and undeveloped national park in the country, visit the only true nature lovers, do not shy away from the dusty dirt roads, tent and sleeping bag. This park is as good as undeveloped. Reservations must be made in the National Park Office in Harare and the visit itself is permitted only with a guide. While there are besides some extremely rudimentary lodging even in the peripheral areas of the Kazwizi camp with running water, showers and toilets as well as the exclusive Chizaria Wilderness Lodge, but in such a large area disappears das. The park is towards Binga pure wilderness and probably not completely mapped in detail. The terrain falls to the Zambezi from 600 m and is dominated by Mopane bushland. Rivers like Mcheni and Lwizikululu have dug deep ravines. The southern boundary of the park, the river forms Busi with its meadows and forests of acacia (Acacia albida ).

At the front part of the park to go Gokwe is Chirisa and on Karibastausee Chete, both safari areas for hunting tourists. There is the corresponding lodges and accommodations.
