Chkalovsk Microdistrict

Chkalovsk (Russian Чкаловск until 1948 German fir forest ) is a former village, now part of Kaliningrad in Russia.

Chkalovsk belongs to Zentralrajon of Kaliningrad and has about 11,000 inhabitants. Included are the independent prior to 1945 villages Prowehren and Strittmatter germ. In the vicinity there is a military airfield. Here are a secondary school, a hospital and several smaller businesses. An Orthodox church was consecrated in 2010.

History

The site Fir forest in 1807 was first mentioned in records. In 1878 it became an independent municipality in the district Fischhausen. With the opening of the railway in 1900 Sambia fir forest was rail connection. In 1919, when the town already counted 432 inhabitants, was begun with the construction of the settlement fir forest northeast of the existing buildings.

In 1935, the Air Force military airfield was built, from the beginning of the Polish campaign in the III. / Lehrgeschwader 1 flew their attacks. The population had increased to 1938 to 2669. Church

Traffic
