Chloroacetyl chloride is a chemical that specifically the shape of simple chlorinated acetic acid chloride. The colorless to slightly yellowish, pungent smelling liquid fumes in moist air.

Production and representation

Can be obtained chloroacetyl chloride by chlorination of chloroacetic acid with phosphorus trichloride, thionyl chloride, sulfuryl chloride or phosgene. Alternatively, vinylidene chloride may be reacted with oxygen in the presence of radical initiators (chlorine, UV light) in the vapor phase to chloroacetyl chloride.

Properties

Water with chloroacetyl chloride to react monochloroacetic acid.

Use
