Tetrachloridogoldsäure, HAuCl4 is a chemical compound of gold and chlorine and an important starting material for other gold compounds.
Production and representation
The simplest and most important Gewinnungsart of Tetrachloridogoldsäure is the dissolution of elemental gold in aqua regia, a mixture of hydrochloric and nitric acids. The likewise formed nitrous gases must be removed by evaporation with hydrochloric acid.
Another way to represent Tetrachloridogoldsäure, the reaction of gold ( III) chloride and hydrochloric acid.
Properties
Tetrachloridogoldsäure crystallizes in long, pale yellow needles, which easily melt in a humid environment. In water and ethanol it dissolves easily. It has a monoclinic crystal structure with space group P21 / c ( a = 6.57, b = 11.6, c = 15.0 Å, ß = 104 °).
Use
As may easily be extracted Tetrachloridogoldsäure, it serves as a starting material for making other gold compounds. In photography, it is used for Tonbäder to obtain a golden color tone. Also for gilding Tetrachloridogoldsäure can be used.
Security
Where Tetrachloridogoldsäure to the skin, it is corrosive to form bubbles. Seems additional light on the agency, to purple spots form.
