Chloropentafluoroethane is a chemical compound from the group of fully halogenated chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs ), which was used as a refrigerant and a blowing agent. It is considered harmful to the ozone layer.
Properties
Chloropentafluoroethane is a colorless, odorless ( at higher concentrations sweet, etherartiger smell) gas. It decomposes when heated strongly, with Halogen compounds such as hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride and dioxins may arise. Chloropentafluoroethane has a heat capacity of 0.116 kJ / (mol K).
Safety
As with all CFCs formed during the decomposition ( due to heat ) of chloropentafluoroethane corrosive substances ( hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid).
