Chlorylfluorid is a chemical compound from the group of fluorides of the chloric acid.

Production and representation

Chlorylfluorid can be obtained by reaction of chlorine dioxide with fluorine at about -50 ° C.

It was first synthesized in 1942 by Schmitz and Schumacher.

It can also be represented by the reaction of potassium or sodium with chlorine trifluoride.

Properties

Chlorylfluorid is a colorless gas, which is very sensitive to moisture. It forms in moist air immediately fog. The compound is thermally more stable than chlorine dioxide.
