Chlothar III.

Chlothar III. (* Probably 650/651, † 673 after 10 March ) was a Frankish king from the house of the Merovingians.

When his father Clovis II died in 657, he succeeded as eldest of three sons to the throne of the Kingdom of Neustria and Burgundy. Since he was at that time only eight years old, his mother Bathilde ruled the kingdom, and received support from the house 658 Meier Ebroin. 664 ceded formally Bathilde her son into power. Had the real power, as usual at this late Merovingian period of the house Meier Ebroin.

Under Chlothar III. the whole kingdom in the years was reunited 661-662 after the episode of Childebertus adoptivus. On pushing the Austrasian nobility was but his younger brother Childeric II already used 662 as king in Austrasia. His reign marked the definitive turn completely incapacitated kingship, as from that date the house more often Meier exercised the real power.
