Chobits

Chobits (JapaneseちょびっツChobittsu ) is a manga by CLAMP, of a love story between Hideki Motosuwa, a ronin ( someone who has not passed the entrance examination of university on the first attempt ), and Chi, a Persocom (Japanese abbreviation for personal computer ) narrates. Chobits was also implemented as an anime.

Action

Handlungsort is Tokyo in the near future. Persocoms, computer with a human appearance, are to be found everywhere at this time. The student Hideki Motosuwa, the protagonist, can not afford such a machine. However, he finds by chance a well-preserved copy in the trash, which he thinks at first it would be a human corpse. After he has the Persocom activated in his apartment, he finds that the computer has no data stored ( which is approximately equivalent to a loss of all memories ). Debugging of Persocoms not succeed, because he seems to be a special instance. The only word that the computer can speak at first, is " Chi " so decides Hideki to make this word the name of the female computer. It begins the search for it, where chi comes from and who she is. Meanwhile, learn to speak the Persocom stages and also by mistake, cope with the world.

The manga focuses on the complicated relationship between Persocoms and their users, and the question of when a machine is not the machine for the modern man, and when it is a living thing for him. In the course of the story, it turns out that Chi is one of two Chobits, a Persocom without an operating system, but with outstanding intelligence. You can also feel emotions like fear, pain or love. Chi is increasingly focusing on the question of whether there is a man who loves her, a man for her alone, and hopes that Hideki is this man for them. She finds herself in the main character of the children's book The City With No People again, whose story actually has strong parallels to Chis life.

At the end Hideki confirmed to her that he loves her.

Chobits was published from September 2000 to October 2002 in Young Magazine in Kodansha and comprises eight volumes. In German Chobits was initially in the manga magazine Manga Power in Egmont Manga & Anime (EMA ) published ( translated by Costa Caspary ), after adjustment of the magazine the series in collecting tapes ( tankōbon ) was published. The anime series Chobits includes 26 episodes, including two Summary consequences. On another DVD Summary episode appeared.

In 2003, when Kodansha under the title Your Eyes Only an artbook with 57 color illustrations by CLAMP to Chobits. All illustrations show chi or her alter ego. Published in 2004, Egmont Manga & Anime the artbook in Germany.

2005/2006 of the anime also appeared in a German version at ADV Films. On 25 June 2007 there was a new edition as a Complete Collection, which on 6 DVDs for all consequences and the Special Chibits which exceptionally focused on Sumomo and Kotoko includes.
