Chocalho

The Chocalho is a Brazilian musical instrument which is mainly used in Samba. This variant of the shaker consisting of a metal frame and sheet metal plates which produce by rhythmically moving a bright sound and form a carpet for the " bateria ", the drummers group. It is important that the metal clamps strike quickly alternating the front and rear of the frame, so no rattling occurs, but rather a sudden noise.

The same function can the shaker instrument Ganzá or Xequerê take over.
