Cholón District

Cholon is a Peruvian district in the province of Marañón in the department of Huanuco. The district was founded on October 21, 1912 has 8,999 inhabitants ( as of 2007) living on 4010 km ². District capital is San Pedro de chonta.

State of Emergency 2011

On 14 September 2011 the Peruvian government established in the district from a 60 - day state of emergency due to kriminiellen the activities of former members of the organization Sendero Luminoso ( Shining Path ) in the region.
