Choltice (Pardubice District)

Choltice ( German: Choltitz ) is a market town with 942 (3 July 2006) inhabitants in the region Pardubice Pilsen ( Czech Republic).

History

On October 12, 1285, the village was first mentioned in writing. In a contract of that day, the Czech king Wenceslas II Zawisch of Falkenstein is on several cities. As a witness appears here by Benesch on Choltitz. End of the 14th century the town was sold by the family of Choltic and went in the subsequent period through to several families who identified themselves as of Choltic. Other owners of the lands and mentioned already in the 16th century castle were the masters Trček of Lipa, family Gersdorff ( Gerštorfové ) and the Counts of Thun and Hohenstein. Since 2006 Choltice is a Městys.
