Chōshi, Chiba

Choshi (Japanese铫 子 市, -shi ) is a city in Chiba Prefecture on Honshu, the main island of Japan.

Geography

The city is located east of Tokyo on the Boso Peninsula on the Pacific Ocean.

The river Tone is flowing through the city from northwest to northeast.

History

The city of Choshi was taken on February 11, 1933 from the merger of the municipalities Choshi (铫 子 町, machi ), Motochōshi (本 铫 子 町, machi ) and Nishichōshi (西 铫 子 町, machi ), and the village Toyoura (豊 浦村, -mura ) in the district Kaijo.
