Choteau is a city in the U.S. state of Montana, United States and the administrative seat of Teton County.
The city is named after Pierre Chouteau, Jr., a fur trader and explorer.
Geography
Choteau is located in northwest Montana, about 32 km east of the Rocky Mountains, near Flathead National Forest. Not far from the town is the Teton River. The metropolitan area has a size of 4.74 km ².
Choteau is crossed by U.S. Highway 89, which runs from Flagstaff, Arizona to the Canadian border. In addition, in Choteau ends coming out of the Port Arthur, Texas U.S. Highway 287
In 2010, the population was 1,684.
History
The city was founded in 1913. Agriculture has an important place in the history Choteaus.
Choteau was in 1999 in the media, as the moderator David Letterman acquired an 11 km ² large ranch near the town.
