Chris Bonington

Sir Christian John Storey Bonington ( born August 6, 1934 in Hampstead, England ) is a British mountaineer. He is one of the best known and most versatile climbers of the 20th century and was beaten to the Knight 1996.

In his career, he has made 19 expeditions to the Himalayas, including four to Mount Everest. Under his leadership, succeeded first time in 1975 the ascent of the south-west wall.

Bonington has written 15 books, has frequently performed in television, and knows how to market well into the Internet through transfers. Sometimes he is praised for his humility and that he is holding up the " British climbing ethos " and dreams of climbing without technical aids and climbing hook. However, his involvement was in the death of the Australian mountaineer Anthony Tighe on Everest in 1972 to criticism occasion.
