Chris Carter (musician)

Chris Carter ( born January 28, 1953 in Islington, London, England ) is an English experimental musicians. He was primarily as a founding member of the music project Throbbing Gristle (TG ) known Cosey Fanni Tutti along with Peter Christopherson and Genesis P -Orridge.

After the dissolution of the group ( the final concert on May 29, 1981 in San Francisco) he founded together with Cosey Fanni Tutti his partner Chris & Cosey the Synthiepopgruppe. Carter operates in conjunction with Cosey 's own label Conspiracy International ( CTI). Carter's works range from audio-visual experimental 8- mm and 16- mm film works up to sound experiments. Chris Carter has worked among others with Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart ( Eurythmics at that time ), Coil, Boyd Rice, Monte Cazazza. Chris and the aforementioned other original members of Throbbing Gristle have come together again for a CD session ( TG24 ) 2002. Moreover, remastered and revised numerous Carter TG recordings digitally.

Currently directs Carter (temporarily together with the composer John Richards ) " Do it yourself " workshops in which like electro-acoustic musical instruments from found objects, transistors, circuits are listed himself built and then as Dirty Electronics Ensemble.
