Chris Carter (screenwriter)

Chris Carter ( born October 13, 1956 in Bellflower, California) is an American producer and screenwriter best known for his television series The X-Files - The Files.

Life

Chris Carter grew up in Los Angeles, the son of a construction worker. In 1979 he received his degree in literature from California State University. In 1985 he began television movie screenplays for Disney to write. He wrote at this time also some scripts for the NBC series. In 1992 he moved to Fox and was now allowed to produce their own series. His first series The X-Files - The Files (1992 ) became an instant worldwide success. Even after his second X-Files TV series Millennium - Fear thy neighbor as thyself ran successfully, even if success could never come close to the X-Files. The series Harsh Realm and The Lone Gunmen ( a spin-off of The X-Files ) flopped against it. In 2008, he staged with The X-Files - I Want to Believe the second movie of the series. The film is his debut as a feature film director, earlier he already staged a total of ten episodes of The X-Files

Chris Carter now lives in Malibu.
