Chris Coleman (politician)

Christopher " Chris " B. Coleman ( born September 1, 1961 in Saint Paul, Minnesota) is an American politician of the Minnesota Democratic - Farmer-Labor Party since 2006 and mayor of Saint Paul.

Coleman is the son of Nick Coleman, the longtime Democratic leader in the Senate from Minnesota. In 2005 he ran for the office of mayor in the capital of Minnesota, Saint Paul. Against his party colleague Randy Kelly, he was able to win with 69 percent of the vote. This is also due to the loss of popularity Kelly, who had in the presidential election campaign in 2004 supported the Republican George W. Bush, and thus incurred the displeasure of the population in the democratic dominated Saint Paul.

Shortly after taking office in January 2006 forbade Coleman smoking in all restaurants and pubs within the city.
