Chris Cooper

Chris Cooper ( born July 9, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri ) is an American actor and Academy Award winner.

Life

Chris Cooper spent most of his youth on the ranch of his father. After leaving school, he began studying at the University of Missouri. He had in 1980 in the film Bad Timing his first film appearance: A Sensual Obsession. Following a rather insignificant roles in television series and films, he was able to establish with films by John Sayles ( City of Hope and Lone Star ) as an independent actor. For his role in Lone Star, he received the established indie Price Chlotrudis Award and was nominated for " Best Actor " for the Independent Spirit Award. The breakthrough he experienced with Sam Mendes ' Oscar - award-winning film American Beauty, where he took over the role of Colonel Frank Fitts. In 2002 he received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of orchid thief in Adaptation. Also the film Seabiscuit - With the will to succeed was rewarded with seven nominations. In 2007, he starred in the movie Breach - betrayal at the highest level, the main role of the spy Robert Hanssen. On February 27, 2013 it was announced that Cooper will take over the role of Norman Osborn in the comic book movie The Amazing Spider- Man 2.

He is married to actress Marianne Leone since 1983. The couple had a son, Jesse Cooper, who was born in 1987 and died of cerebral palsy in January 2005.
