Chris Lawler

Christopher " Chris " Lawler ( born October 20, 1943 in Liverpool) is an English footballer, who contributed much to the success of FC Liverpool in the 1960s and 1970s.

Sports career

Lawler came in 1959 in the local football club and celebrated with 19 his debut at right-back. In the following two seasons, he continually improved until he was finally moved forward in 1965 in the first team at right-back and the victory in the final state of the FA Cup against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium on the field and the club the trophy for the first time in won its history.

Henceforth, he was the first choice for coach Bill Shankly and missed the next seven seasons, only three games. In 1966, he won the league championship and was Shankly's great upheaval, which replaced many stars from the 1960s through young talent. Next to him were from the "old generation " only Emlyn Hughes, Ian Callaghan and Tommy Smith in the team. Lawler stood in 1971 at the FA Cup final on the field, as Liverpool lost to Arsenal. In 1973, he won with the Reds again the championship and the UEFA Cup. At this time he also completed four games for the national team and scored in his debut against Malta. In 1974 he sat in the FA Cup final injured on the bench, but was also one of the winners medals after Liverpool Newcastle United had beaten 3-0. He is now and active as a talent scout for Liverpool since. At the same time he brings in Skelmersdale children at the football games.
