Chris McKinstry

Chris McKinstry ( born February 12, 1967 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, † 23 January 2006 in Santiago de Chile ) was a researcher in the field of artificial intelligence. In July 2000, he founded the Mind Pixel Project. Before Mind pixel he led the development of MISTIC project, which was launched in May 1996.

Life

McKinstry was a Canadian citizen, but lived long in the city of Antofagasta in the north of the South American country of Chile. After he returned to Canada for a short time, he lived up to his suicide in Santiago de Chile. He announced his suicide in a blog and a discussion forum on January 20.

Until 2002 he was a telescope and instrument operator at the Very Large Telescope of the European Southern Observatory in Chile. In 1984 he entered as a competitor in the final season of the Canadian game show Reach for the Top. With this mission managed the Canadians Alex Trebek, the host of the game show Jeopardy!, His breakthrough. On 23 January 2006 McKinstry committed suicide.
