Chris Minh Doky
Chris Minh Doky ( born February 7, 1969 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish jazz bassist.
The son of a Danish pop singer and a Vietnamese doctor and guitarist and brother of Niels Lan Doky received jazz pianist at the age of six years of piano lessons. He attended the Royal Danish Conservatory, where he received several awards. At the age of fifteen, he moved to the electric bass.
1989 Doky went to New York, where he first appeared with young musicians like Kevin Heyes, Ben Perowsky, Joey Calderazzo, Curtis Stigers and Larry Goldings and bassist Mike Stern was. In addition, he also worked with Ryuichi Sakamoto, Trilok Gurtu, Randy Brecker, David Sylvian, David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum and Bill Evans.
After he had in 1989 signed a contract with the label Storyville Records, where he brought out three albums, he is since 1995 on Blue Note Records. With his brother, he led the group Doky Brothers.
