Chris Douglas Paterson, MBE (born 30 March 1978 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish rugby union player who is active for Edinburgh and the Scottish national team. He plays on the positions of compound semiconductor, wings and full goalkeeper.

Paterson began his career in 1998 at the Glasgow Caledonians, after only a year, however, he moved to the second major Scottish club to Edinburgh. He played eight years to 2007 he went to England for Gloucester RFC. After just one season he returned to Edinburgh.
