Career

The extremely robust thanks to its genuine commitment to Canadians is one of the best defenders in the league. Before Chris Pronger to his current club, the Philadelphia Flyers moved for family reasons, he played the first two NHL seasons for the then Hartford Whalers, after ten years for the St. Louis Blues, a year with the Edmonton Oilers and three years for the Anaheim Ducks. Pronger was selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in second place of the Hartford Whalers.

Pronger was 1997-2002 team captain of the St. Louis Blues and took twice in one NHL All-Star Game in part (1999 and 2000). In 2000, he played his best statistical season in which he recorded 14 goals and 48 templates. This season, he was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy as most valuable player. Before the NHL season 2005/ 06 was transferred to the Edmonton Oilers Chris Pronger of the St. Louis Blues. In exchange, Eric Brewer, Jeff Woywitka and Doug Lynch moved from Edmonton to St. Louis.

With the Edmonton Oilers Pronger moved immediately into the Stanley Cup Finals and was a candidate for the Conn Smythe Trophy, but the team lost in seven games against the Carolina Hurricanes. Pronger did - against all expectations - not in Edmonton, but was on his own request from the Edmonton Oilers away - transferred - to the Anaheim Ducks. In Anaheim, he instantly had a successful first season and has been for the James Norris Memorial Trophy, which gets the best defender nominated. In addition, the team moved to the finals of the Western Conference. There Pronger was named after a band check against Tomas Holmström suspended for one match. The Anaheim Ducks finally succeeded in six games to defeat the Detroit Red Wings, so Pronger after the other was a finalist for the Stanley Cup for the second time, this time against the Ottawa Senators. After he was locked up in game three after a check against Dean McAmmond again for a game, he managed to keep the Stanley Cup in their own hands in Game Five for the first time.

By winning the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in the season 2006/ 07, the Canadian star defender is one of the 23 members of the Triple Gold Club. On 26 June 2009 Pronger went as part of a transfer deals to the Philadelphia Flyers, while Joffrey Lupul returned to Anaheim. In the 2009/10 season Pronger was with the Flyers in the Stanley Cup final, but lost in six games against the Chicago Blackhawks. During the 2011/12 season he suffered a concussion, so he fails indefinitely. In January 2013, the captaincy, which he held for the Flyers was sent to Claude Giroux. Thus, an early career end in sight.

After a disappointing 4th place he won four years later in Salte Lake City gold medal. This, after he had already become 1997 World Champion and 1993 Junior World Champion with Canada.
