Chris Tancill

Christopher W. Tancill ( born February 7, 1968 in Livonia, Michigan ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Hartford Whalers, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, as well as the Kloten Flyers, the SC Rapperswil -Jona and EV train in the Swiss National League A.

Career

Tancill played for four years from 1986 to 1990 at the University of Wisconsin -Madison in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In his last season where he led the team to win the College Championship and became the Most Valuable Player of the Endturnieres chosen.

After the Americans had already been selected in the NHL Supplemental Draft in 1989 by the Hartford Whalers, he signed for season 1990/91 his first professional contract in Hartford. He played with the exception of nine games in the NHL, mostly in the American Hockey League with the Springfield Indians, the farm team of the Whalers, with whom he won the Calder Cup at the end of the season. After moving to the Detroit Red Wings in December 1991, he also played there in the farm team, the Adirondack Red Wings, and won, as in the previous year, again the Calder Cup. In addition, he was appointed to the First All -Star team in the league. In the NHL, he came during the two years with the Red Wings only five times for use. Since his contract expired after the season 1992/93, he joined in the summer of 1993 as a free agent for one year to the Dallas Stars, where he again not been able to establish a regular place in the NHL squad. It was followed by the re- exchange on free agent - base to the San Jose Sharks. There he came in the following three seasons regularly used and played 96 of his 134 NHL games, but was also repeatedly found in the cadres of the farm team of the Sharks. In the summer of 1997, the right winger returned to the Dallas Stars, where was it again just a place in the farm team squad.

After the disappointing 1997/98 season Tancill moved to Europe to play for the Kloten Flyers in the Swiss National League A. Further stations were in the following years the EV train and the SC Rapperswil -Jona, before he ended his career after six years in Switzerland in the summer of 2004.

Internationally

Tancill participated with the U.S. national team at the World Championships in 1996, 1997 and 2000. He won the bronze medal in 1996 after a victory over Russia in the match for third place.
