Chris Thile

Christopher Scott Thile (pronounced tie- lie, born February 20, 1981 in Oceanside ( California)) is an American musician. He became known as the group Nickel Creek mandolin player. His virtuosic playing and his musical originality earned him the 2012 MacArthur Fellow Scholarship a.

Biography

Thile grew up in California and started out as a five year old with the mandolin. At eight, he founded together with his father Scott Thile the band Nickel Creek, published in 1993 their first album. In 1994 Leading off the first solo album of thirteen years.
