Christ Church Cathedral (Vancouver)

The Christ Church Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral in the Canadian city of Vancouver and is one of two cathedrals of the Diocese of New Westminster of the Anglican Church of Canada. It is located on West Georgia Street on land which was acquired by Canadian Pacific Railway, next to the Hotel Vancouver.

History

The foundation stone was laid on 28 July 1894, the official opening on 17 February 1895. Built in the Gothic Revival style building replaced a built in 1889 wooden church. 1929, the See of New Westminster was moved here. In 1976 the City of Vancouver and the province of British Columbia the cathedral under a preservation order.
