Christen Aagaard

Christian Lauritsen Aagaard ( born January 27, 1616 Viborg ( Jutland ); † February 5, 1664 in Ribe ) was a Danish poet.

Life

The brothers were sons Niels Christian and a preacher to Viborg. From 1635 to 1639 studied Christians Aagard in Copenhagen. At the university, he became in 1647 professor of poetics. 1651, he became rector of Ribe 1658 lecturer of theology and preacher at Vester - Vedsted. From its excellent by stylistic purity and elegance Latin poems especially Threni hyperborei ( 1648), a poem on the death of the Danish King Christian IV to highlight. His poetic estate was in Rostgaards Deliciae poetarum Danorum ( Volume 1, Leyden 1693, pp. 341-347 ) published a this joined by his son sketch of his Vita.
