Christian Bauer

Christian Bauer ( born January 11, 1977 in Forbach ) is a French chess master.

Career

Bauer won the 1996 individual championship of France in Auxerre in 1997 and Grand Master. In 1999, he turned in the first round of the FIDE World Chess Championship from the World Champion of 2004 Rustam Kasimjanov, but then failed in the second round by Péter Lékó. In the years 2000, 2002 and 2006, he represented his country at the Chess Olympiad.

Under tragic circumstances Christian Bauer was in August 2012, again French champion in Pau (together with Etienne Bacrot, Romain Edouard and Maxime Vachier -Lagrave ). Before the last round Christian Bauer died four months old baby. The tournament was then terminated and the participants of the tournament agreed to confer with 7 points four top finishers for the title.

Bauer played since 1996 for various clubs in the Chess League, most recently in the 2006/07 season against newly promoted SC Remagen. In Belgium, he plays for Namur Echecs, Spain Gros Xake Taldea. In France 2007, he moved from Paris to Montpellier 15 Chess Echecs. In the Swiss team championship Christian Bauer plays since 2008 for the Zurich Chess Club, after he had been from 2001 to 2006 for the Biel Chess Society in use. In the Swiss group championship Bauer plays since 2012 also for the chess club Réti Zurich.

His best Elo rating of 2682 reached farmers in August 2012, by which he was ranked 69 in the world.

Play

Bauer is known for his unconventional handling of the opening, with the black pieces he plays at grandmaster level rarely seen openings such as the Scandinavian defense, Alekhine Defence or the Owen - defense. About last named system he has written a book in 2005.
