Christian Beeck

Christian Beeck ( born December 18, 1971 in Rathenow, district of Potsdam, East Germany ) is a former German football player and former sports director in professional football.

Playing career

Beeck began at the age of eight at the 1 FC Union Berlin football games. There he developed into a talented young player and aroused both the interest of local rivals BFC Dynamo and the DFV. Therefore, he moved in 1987 in the youth team of the BFC and took part in the following year with the U- 16 national team at the European Championships in Spain, where the team reached the third place. He then moved on to the squad of the U-18 national team. Overall Beeck played nine games (when a goal is scored ) for the U-16 and twelve games ( without scoring ) for the U-18 selection.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall left Beeck Dynamo and joined in 1990 the steel BSV Brandenburg. There he played in the 1989/90 season his debut in the GDR Oberliga. After three more league inserts, one of them in the last season of the highest East German league, he left Brandenburg first to FC Eindhoven, but came from there via the detour at FC Stahl Hennig village back to the Havel, where the BSV steel now the qualification had succeeded for the second Bundesliga. There, however, the club could not keep up and rose at the end of the 1991/92 season again.

In Cottbus Beeck experienced its most successful years. 2000 increased the Lusatian to the Bundesliga and stayed there for three years. Beeck was there a great support and at times also team captain, however, was always thrown back from injury. After a lengthy knee injury he had to end his career in 2005.

Official career

First Beeck aimed at a change in Cottbus management, but this failed due to the then new club management. Therefore, he took over as team manager on 27 September 2005, the Office of the sporting director of Lothar Hamann at his old club Union Berlin. On 1 March 2007 he joined the "Iron " succeeds Jörg Heinrich as sports director and chief scout and occupied this position for five years.
