Christian Christiansen

Christian Christiansen ( born October 9, 1843 in Loenborg, Denmark, † November 28, 1917 ) was a Danish physicist.

After studying Christiansen became a teacher at the local vocational school. 1886 convened the University of Copenhagen him to the chair of physics.

Christiansen worked mainly in the fields of optical dispersion and the heat radiation and developed according to the notified him Christiansen filter ( Christiansen effect). He found numerous absorption spectra with anomalous dispersion, including that of aniline red.
