Christian County (Missouri)
The Christian County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 77 422 inhabitants and a population density of 53.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ozark. The Christian County is part of the metropolitan area around the city of Springfield.
Geography
The County is located in the Ozarks in southwest Missouri, 40 km to the south from Arkansas and has an area of 1461 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Christian County was formed on March 8, 1859 from parts of Greene County, Taney County and Webster County. It was named after William Christian, an officer in the Revolutionary War. In the 1990s, the county was measured by the number of inhabitants, the fastest growing county in Missouri with an increase of over 66 percent.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Christian County 77 422 people in 28 385 households. The population density was 53.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 28 385 households lived statistically 2.60 per person.
The racial the population was composed of 95.7 percent white, 0.6 percent African American, 0.6 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.5 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
27.4 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 60.4 percent were between 18 and 64 and 12.2 percent were 65 years or older. 21.4 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was $ 51,135. The per capita income was $ 23,720. 9.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
