Christian Democratic Union (Ukraine)

The Christian Democratic Union ( Ukr Християнсько - демократичний союз, Christijansko - demokratitschnij soyuz ) is a conservative party in Ukraine. Chairman of the party is Volodymyr Stretowytsch.

It was founded February 8, 1997 in Kiev, in order to promote the ideas of European Christian democracy in Ukraine. In March 2002, the party won in alliance with Our Ukraine, which was led by future President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, the parliamentary elections. In 2006, belonged to the CDU alliance Our ​​Ukraine and the supporters of the Orange Revolution.

The newspaper of the party called Християнський демократ (Christian Democrat ).

The Party supports the efforts to include Ukraine into the EU and NATO.
