Christian E. Christiansen

Christian E. Christiansen ( born December 14, 1972 in Kalundborg ) is a Danish film director and film producer.

Life and work

Christian E. Christiansen grew up in Kalundborg. Until 1988 he attended nine years the local folkeskole Rynkevangskolen. From 1989 to 1991 he taught in a mathematics class at Kalundborg Gymnasium. From 1994 he worked in the film industry, first as producer of commercials and short films. He also played some small film roles. From 1997 to 2001 he studied film production at Den Danske Filmskole.

2005 produced Christiansen as the first feature-length film, the romantic comedy Nynne. She was a popular success in Denmark and reached there fourth place in the annual charts.

As a director Christiansen debuted in 2006 with the film Razone that bullying among young people discussed. Razone was nominated for several Bodil and Robert Awards. Producer of the film was Louise Vesth, with the Christiansen still cooperated in the following years several times. Their most successful collaboration was the short film Om natten, which is about three young women with cancer to spend together in the hospital Christmas. For Omnatten Christiansen and Vesth 2007 were honored with an Oscar nomination. Their combined family film Zoomerne (2009) about two boys who are spying on her classmates with cameras ran at numerous festivals and won two kids film awards.

2011 appeared Christiansen's first English-language directorial effort, the thriller The Roommate. He was a commercial success particularly in the United States.

Christiansen's latest film Lev strengthens concerns of young people who cause at an illegal street racing death of a girl. The drama was produced by Vesth and comes on 3 April 2014 in the Danish cinema.
