Christian Gentner (2006)

Christian Gentner ( born August 14, 1985 in Nürtingen ) is a German football player who since 2010 at the Bundesliga VfB Stuttgart under contract.

Association

Beginnings and VfB Stuttgart

He already started with three years at TSV Beuren with football play on. He then played for a year in the youth of the VfL ​​Kirchheim. In 1999 he moved to VfB Stuttgart, with the midfielder could win the 2003 German A Youth Championship. For the Regional team of VfB he gave at the first round of the Regional 2004/05 season his debut when the winger was substituted in the 88th minute in the match against Sportfreunde Siegen against Denis Berger. In the summer of 2006 he extended his contract at VfB Stuttgart until 2010. During the season 2006/ 07 he was fifteen times on or replaced in fifteen matches, which he completed. VfL Wolfsburg

In July 2007, he was loaned from VfB Stuttgart VfL Wolfsburg. Under the former Stuttgart coach Felix Magath, the midfielder played in the master cadre of wolves. Finally they reached the UEFA Cup and finished fifth, the best placement of the Wolfsburg since league affiliation. In August 2008, the clubs announced that Gentner finally moved to Wolfsburg. Gentner justified his move with a promising perspective from his point of view. About the transfer fee no official details have been given.

In the 2008 /09 season Gentner was the second time German champion. Besides Marcel Schaefer and Andrea Barzagli of Wolfsburg he was the only player who was used in all league matches. With ten Assists he was behind Zvjezdan Misimović second best Preparer his team.

Return to VfB Stuttgart

Gentner returned after the expiry of his contract in Wolfsburg free transfer on 1 July 2010 for VfB Stuttgart back. On January 6, 2013, Christian Gentner agreed with VfB on a contract extension and signed a contract valid until the end of June 2016 with an option for another year.

After his predecessor Serdar Taşçı had left the club on 30 August, 2013, Gentner was appointed by VfB coach Thomas Schneider as the new captain of the Stuttgart Bundesliga team.

National

2005 Gentner twice played for the team in 2006, the perspective of the DFB team. On 19 May 2009 he was first nominated by the federal trainer Jogi Löw for the Asian tour of the A-team of the DFB and had on May 29, his first senior international use in the match against China. Three more missions in 2009 and one in August 2010 ( against Denmark ) followed. Previously Gentner has already played in the German youth teams.
