Christian Horrebow

Christian Pedersen Horrebow ( born April 15, 1718, Copenhagen, † September 19, 1776 ) was a Danish astronomer of the 18th century. He was a son of Peder Nielsen Horrebow, whom he succeeded as director of the observatory of the University of Copenhagen, which was then located in the Round Tower. 1768/69 he served as rector of the university.

Neith, a supposed moon of Venus, was spotted by Christian Horrebow when he was studying the passage of this planet from 1766 to 1768. He also discovered the periodicity of sunspots.

He married on 25 October 1754, the Anna Barbara Longhorn (1735 -1812 ).
