Christian Jank

Christian Jank ( born July 15, 1833 in Munich, † November 25, 1888 ) was a German theater painter who was known for his work for the Bavarian King Ludwig II.

Jank originally worked as a theater and stage painter in Munich, where he was involved among other things, the scenes for the music composed by Richard Wagner opera Lohengrin. His work has aroused the interest of the Bavarian King Ludwig II, who commissioned Jank with plans for its inspired by the works of Richard Wagner's construction projects. On Christian Jank's historicist designs erected by Eduard Riedel and Georg Dollman 1869 Neuschwanstein Castle goes back, Jank was also involved in the facilities of Schloss Linderhof. His extensive designs for the Castle Falkenstein could not be realized, the project was discontinued after the king's death in 1886.

He was the father of the animal painter and graphic artist Angelo Jank, which should significantly shape the graphic style of the magazine Jugend.
