Christian Markle Straub

Christian Markle Straub (* 1804 in Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, † June 7, 1860 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. From 1853 to 1855 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Christian Straub operated after his education, first as a teacher, surveyor and distributors. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. He was a shareholder at different railway companies and in Williamsport 's West Branch Bank. In 1842 he was elected to the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. In the same year he took over the office of the Prothonotary in the Schuylkill County, which he held until 1849. He subsequently sheriff. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1852 Straub was selected in the eleventh electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he became the successor of Henry Mills Fuller on March 4, 1853. Until March 3, 1855, he was able to complete a term in Congress. This was marked by the events leading up to the Civil War. Between 1856 and 1858 Christian Straub was a member of the Senate of Pennsylvania. He died on 7 June 1860 in the German capital Washington.
