Christian Matras (cinematographer)

Life

Matras worked as a reporter for the Éclair -Journal and began his work for the film in the 1920s with the camera work for newsreels, documentaries and worked from 1926 to 1932 moved to the feature film. Thanks to its extremely precise, even seemingly trivial detected recording style Matras has quickly become one of the most popular and most respected cinematographers of French cinema. He has worked with directors like René Clair, Marc Georges Franju and Allégret or Max Ophuls.
