Christian Muthspiel

Christian Muthspiel ( born September 20, 1962 in Jews castle / Styria ) is an Austrian jazz musician, composer, conductor and trombonist. He is the brother of jazz musician Wolfgang Muthspiel and son of composer and choral educator Kurt Muthspiel.

Biography

Muthspiel received from only six years of piano lessons, with eleven years then trombone lessons. He studied at the Musikhochschule in Graz trombone, both classical and jazz, but did not complete this study. With Cho Theissing and Heinrich von Kalnein he founded the orchestra forum Graz, which emerged in 1985 in the crossover region and the album " From the diary of frontier workers " grossed. He also played with Theissing, German and Alex Ewald upper Leitner in the group Fidelio & Blasius. In the years 1987 to 1988, he was awarded a scholarship at the Banff Centre in Banff, Canada in piano, trombone and composition. This is followed by numerous appearances at jazz festivals in Europe and America.

Since 2003 Muthspiel is mainly active as a composer and conductor, including with its own cycle very specially programmed concerts with the " Camerata Salzburg " and the " Munich Chamber Orchestra ".
