Christian Noyer

Christian Noyer (born 6 October 1950 Soisy -sous- Montmorency, France ) is a French lawyer, financial expert and government official.

Life

Noyer first studied law at the University of Rennes I and completed his studies in 1971. He then studied in Paris at the elite universities, Sciences Po ( completion 1972) and ENA ( the final year of Guernica, 1976). He began his career in the Direction du Trésor of the Treasury.

Noyer was 1998-2003 Vice- President of the European Central Bank ( and thus representative of Willem Duisenberg, who from 1998 to 2003, President of the ECB).

Since 2003 he has been Governor of the Banque de France, that is head of the French central bank. In March 2010, he was appointed Chief Executive of the Bank for International Settlements.
