Christian Pommerenke

Christian Pommerenke ( born December 17, 1933, Copenhagen) is a German mathematician who deals with complex analysis.

Pommerenke studied from 1954 at the University of Göttingen where he was awarded a degree in 1957 and his doctorate in 1959 (over the uniform distribution of grid points in m-dimensional ellipsoid ). From 1958 he was an assistant and after the Habilitation in 1963 Privatdozent in Göttingen. 1961/62 he was Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. 1962/3 he was at Harvard University, and 1965-1967 at Imperial College as a visiting professor. Since 1967 he was a professor at the Technical University of Berlin, where he is now professor emeritus. Pommerenke dealt among other things with simple functions. Immediately after publication of the proof of the Bieberbach conjecture in 1985 by Louis de Branges he found simplifications.
