Christian Sarron

Christian Sarron ( born March 27, 1955 in Clermont- Ferrand, Puy-de -Dôme, France ) is a French former motorcycle racer.

He denied 1976-1990 a total of 148 races at Yamaha in the motorcycle world championship and won the 1984 title in the 250 cc class.

Sarron debuted in 1976 in the world championship in the class up to 250 cm ³. A year later, in the wet race at the Hockenheimring, he achieved his first victory. Only five years later and again in the rain, at the Finnish Grand Prix in 1982, followed the second victory. The following year, 1983, Sarron could take second place behind Carlos Lavado World Cup with another win. In 1984, he succeeded in three victories this season and winning the title.

For the following season Sarron joined the class up to 500 cc. His only victory in this class he could enter 1985 again in the rain at Hockenheim. He finished second in the World Cup overall standings as the best results in 1985 and 1989 respectively in third.

In 1995 he retired from active racing and was team manager of the Yamaha World Superbike Team.
