Christian Schoen

Christian Philipp Schoen (born 1970 in Marburg ) is a German art historian and curator. He deals with classical arts (about Auguste Rodin and Albrecht Dürer) and contemporary art phenomena. From 2000 to 2003 he headed the exhibit hall Lothringer13 in Munich, since 2001, the Osram Art Projects. He was appointed as Director of the Center for Icelandic Art in 2005, which he directed until 2010. As Commissioner, he was responsible for 2007 and 2009 the Icelandic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Between 2006 and 2008 he was an Advisor and Member of Acquisition Committee of the Reykjavík Art Museum. He was the initiator and chairman of the international art festivals sequences. As an independent curator he realized international projects to exhibition venues and public spaces. He is the author of classic and contemporary art and lecturer on interdisciplinary methods at the University of St. Gallen.
