Christian Streich

Christian Streich ( born June 11, 1965 in Weil am Rhein) is a German football coach and former football player. He's since December 2011 coach of Bundesliga club SC Freiburg.

Playing career

String, son of a butcher, grew up in the southern Baden Eimeldingen. Its active football career began in 1983 when Freiburger FC in the Oberliga Baden- Württemberg. In his first season he was the team champion in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga, the club failed but in the FC 08 Homburg and VfR Buerstadt.

After another season at the FFC midfielder transferred in 1985 to the 2nd Bundesliga to the Stuttgarter Kickers. There, however, he came in two seasons only 21 appearances and returned to Freiburg, where he signed for second division rivals SC Freiburg.

After one season he left the gym and then went to the second division FC 08 Homburg, with which he was runner-up in 1989, so climb to the 1st Bundesliga. In the Bundesliga season 1989/90 he came to ten inserts for Homburg, after direct relegated again he ended his professional career and played again until 1994 when Freiburger FC.

Coaching career

In 1995 he returned to Freiburg as a youth coach back. With the A-Juniors he won in 2006, 2009 and 2011 the DFB Junior Club Cup 2008 with a 2-0 final win over VfL Wolfsburg, the German A Youth Championship. After Robin Dutt had been engaged as head coach of the first team in the summer of 2007, cream was also served as assistant coach, but took care remains principally about the A - youth. Under his leadership, some youth players managed the leap to the pros, including Dennis Aogo, Jonathan Pitroipa, Daniel Schwaab, Eke Uzoma, Ömer Toprak and Oliver Baumann.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season was prank assistant coach of the first team of SC Freiburg under new coach Marcus Sorg, head coach of the previous Dutt, who had moved to Bayer Leverkusen succeeded.

29 December 2011 prank became the new head coach of SC Freiburg. He took over from Marcus Sorg, who had been on leave on the same day due to lack of success (only three wins from 17 games). The back round of prank was a success for the SC; the team left the relegation zone and secured on the 32nd matchday league. This surprising success and by his unconventional remarks at press conferences prank was given a high media attention. The local TV station TV Südbaden honored him with a video column (string a week ), which shortly afterwards took up the Badische Zeitung.

Due to the surprising success and the good performance of the SC Freiburg in the second half 2011/2012 in the 1st Bundesliga occupied String in a vote for coach of the year in 2012 to third place behind Jürgen Klopp and Lucien Favre. After the SC Freiburg in the following season 2012/2013 surprisingly finished in fifth place in the table and thus moved into the Europa League, he reached in a vote for coach of the year in 2013 behind Jupp Heynckes second place, ahead of Klopp.

On May 10, 2013 Christian Streich extended his contract running until 2014 at SC Freiburg in the long term.

Profession

String, which successfully completed a professional training as an industrial clerk took his A-levels, later on the second chance after and then studied German, history and sport for the teaching profession.
