Christian Ulf Wilhelmsson ( born December 8, 1979 in Malmö) is a Swedish football player. The midfielder, who made his debut in the Swedish national team in 2001, played in his career in his home country, Norway, Belgium, France, Italy, England, Spain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Career

Clubs

Wilhelmsson began his career in 1997 at the Swedish second division club Mjallby AIF. In three years he was there 51 times in league matches and scored 11 goals for use. In 2000 he then moved to Norway to Stabæk IF. There he became a very prolific players: in 84 games he scored 25 goals. He was responsible for Stabæk for qualifying for the UEFA Cup in 2002/ 03. When there match against RSC Anderlecht he fell to his coach, who took him to the 2003/ 04 in the Belgian First Division after Anderlecht. During the season he became more and more a key player of the club who could win the Belgian Cup. He also played a big part in the qualifying Anderlecht for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. Also in the following years Wilhelmsson has always been top performers at his club; so he came to vote for the player of the year 2005, the Belgian Jupiler League in third place behind Sérgio Conceição and Vincent Kompany. At the end of the season 2005/ 06 has been reported that he wanted to leave Anderlecht even for the season 2006 /07 despite a contract until July 2007. He subsequently moved to FC Nantes in France, in January 2007, but then on loan to AS Roma in Italy. In July 2007 he was awarded again, this time to the Bolton Wanderers of England. There he had an option to a contract extension until 2012 for the event that he completed at least 20 missions from the beginning in the 2007/ 08 season. After only eight Premier League appearances as a substitute followed in January 2008, the next rental station: He moved up to the end of the season without option to buy Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña.

Wilhelmsson officially left on August 5, 2008 FC Nantes and moved to Al -Hilal, after Saudi Arabia. It cost 3.5 million euro transfer fee and signed until 2012. On 5 September 2011, he moved to end of the season on loan to Qatar for Al -Ahli SC, where he was provided, among others, as the successor of Opoku Agyemang migrated.

He moved in September 2012 to Los Angeles Galaxy, signing up to the end of the season. In January 2013, Wilhelmsson joined the Baniyas SC.

National

Even for the Swedish U- 21 team, he ran 16 times on. For the A selection of Sweden, he made his debut in January 2001 against the Faroe Islands ( 0-0). He came in no qualifying match for the European Championship 2004 on the use, but was able to play through his performance in the preseason games to this tournament in the Swedish squad and arrived in Portugal in all four games for use. Since then, he is a regular player of the Swedish selection and was called by coach Lars Lagerback in the squad at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008. Wilhelmsson also took part in the 2012 European Championship and came there in all three group matches are used.
