Christian Goat

Christian Goat ( born 1 February 1972 in West Berlin) is a German football coach and former football player. In his playing days, he won the European Championships with the national team in 1996. Besides he was both German and Italian Champion and twice won the UEFA Cup. Since March 2014 Goat trains the SpVgg Unterhaching.

Career as a player

Clubs

Between 1978 and 1981, played goat for Südstern 08 Berlin and then moved to TSV Rudow Berlin. From 1985 to 1990 he was active for Hertha Zehlendorf before him in 1990, the FC Bayern München committed. For Bayern he graduated to 1997 185 Bundesliga games. Then he played a few years abroad - for AC Milan ( 1997-1999 ), the Middlesbrough FC (1999 /2000) and Liverpool (2000 /2001). By the summer of 2004, he finally played for Tottenham Hotspur in London; in this period also fell emergency surgery ( fasciotomy ), which was necessary because of a compartment syndrome as a result of a "horse kiss ". For the 2004/2005 season goat returned to Germany. But soon after, he finished as team captain at Borussia Moenchengladbach on October 20, 2005 after a lengthy ankle injury of his career. His last game he completed on 21 May 2005 ( 34th Round ) in the 1:5 defeat in the away game against Bayer Leverkusen.

National

On April 30, 1991 debuted Goat in the U-21 national team, which won 3-1 in Osnabrück against the selection of Belgium, against which he also scored his first goal equal. In his 12th and final game on 13 April 1993 in Ronne, get him in a 4-1 victory over the selection of Denmark two goals.

Goat belonged to each of the cadres of the European and World Championship finals between 1996 and 2004. Career as a coach

After the end of his playing career goat earned his A- Trainer certificate in Sport Centrum Kamen - Kaiserau. From June 2006 to March 2007, he coached then the U-17 Juniors Borussia Mönchengladbach. Another soccer coach license he originally wanted to purchase at the Hennes Weisweiler Academy in Cologne. However, he broke this training prematurely in order to devote himself exclusively to his job as a manager.

After Borussia Mönchengladbach was released on October 5, 2008 Jos Luhukay as a coach, took over as acting goat this task. In his only game as interim coach the team battled to a 2-2 draw in Bochum. On October 19 goat was presented at a news conference as the new assistant at the side of Hans Meyer. The change had been suggested by goat itself in internal discussions. In April 2010, he acquired still the football coach diploma at the Hennes Weisweiler Academy of German Sport University Cologne. Last time was goat from start of season 2010/11, head coach of the second division club Arminia Bielefeld, who released him on November 6, 2010.

In April 2011 goat was presented as a future coach of the U-19 national team. He followed there on Ralf Minge, who had coached the team previously. In August 2011, goat took over at the DFB, the U-18 national team. His expiring in the summer of 2014 contract was not renewed by the DFB.

On March 20, 2014 goat was the new coach of SpVgg Unterhaching.

Career as manager

On March 8, 2007 Christian goat took over from sporting director Peter Pander at Borussia Moenchengladbach. After relegation from the Bundesliga in the summer of 2007 left 13 players the club. Goat then put together an almost entirely new team, who then managed the immediate resurgence. In June 2008, the current contract was extended in advance with goat by the end of June 2011.
