Christiane Knetsch

Christiane Koepke ( born August 24, 1956 in Brandenburg an der Havel, before marriage: Christiane Knetsch ) is a former rower from the GDR. She won in 1976 and 1980 Olympic gold in the eighth.

Christiane Knetsch of the SG Dynamo Potsdam won 1972 at the Spartakiade in the quadruple sculls and eights. From 1973 to 1975 she erruderte three East German championship in eighth. 1975 at the World Championships in Nottingham won the GDR eighth in the occupation of Doris Mosig, Rosel Nitsche, Renate New, Kallies Monika, Bianka Swede, Ilona Richter, Christiane Knetsch, Viola Goretzki and control Ms. Marina Wilke.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, the woman Rowing had its Olympic debut. The boats from the GDR won in the six boat classes four gold medals and two silver medals.
