Christianshavn

Christianshavn is one of the 15 administrative districts of the Danish capital Copenhagen. It is 3.43 km ² and has 10,140 inhabitants. The district was created in 1619 on the initiative of King Christian IV, who had Johan Sems invited to make a design. Christianshavn is located on an artificial island southeast of downtown. To date, the duct system from the 17th century is intact.

To the west is the county Indre By, downtown. It is separated by the ports and Københavns Havn Inderhavnen. In the southeast are the districts Vestamager, Sundbyvester and Sundbyøster, separated from the moat ( Stadsgraven ). In the north and east is the Sound ( Baltic Sea).

In the district there is the self-proclaimed Freetown Christiania. In 1971 the film here Ballade på Christianshavn was filmed.
